But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

For the modern-day alchemist, the descent into the underworld of the soul to reclaim lost awareness and aspects of the Self often includes a symbolic death and rebirth as we shift from an ego-bound consciousness to a deeper connection with Spirit, expressed through our relationships, creativity, and life force.
On my path of inner alchemy, I have been called to navigate between the conditioning of the mind and the unseen dimensions of the heart. This journey involves dissolving rigid thought patterns to connect more deeply with the body, senses, and the instinctual energy of the Soul.
In this season of profound change, many of us are embarking on an alchemical journey—learning to surrender control, transmute unconscious patterns, and embrace the deeper mysteries with wisdom, humility, and compassion. I am profoundly grateful to those of you joining this journey through our groups and programs. Recently, I have returned to my roots in Jungian psychotherapy to find words for this inner experience.
I admit, this journey is not for the faint-hearted. For me, it has been a daily choice to show up for myself and follow the path of conscious embodiment through inner alchemy. Jungian Analyst Anne Baring describes inner alchemy as a Sacred Marriage that births a new Stellar Consciousness.
In this marriage of our inner King and Queen archetypes, the Queen is represented by the rose, lily, dove, and swan, embodying the heart's essence—fluid, changeable, sometimes volatile, and untamed. This heart energy is the matrix of our creativity and imagination. The inner King, in contrast, is tied to our five-sense perception, representing the mind or ego.
The alchemical journey requires that the King undergo a symbolic death, leading him into the realm of emotions, feelings, and instincts that have long been dissociated from consciousness. Here, he learns to listen to the heart and reclaim the Soul.
Through the transmutation of both inner archetypes, a reborn inner child emerges—a new consciousness that reflects a transformation, recalibration, and renewal of values, beliefs, and imprints. For me, this process unfolds in stages, which I call "shedding the old" and "embracing the new."
Perhaps you are beginning this process yourself. Consider the following:
In our day-to-day life, how can we continue to say “yes” to the path of inner alchemy?
1. Slow down and create space to start listening inside. Stay committed to the process of heart-centered self-inquiry.
2. Watch your projections and judgments as these can be the signposts for tending to the inner King.
3. Find opportunities for more practices that take you into the body and the senses.
4. Invite yourself into your emotions through music, movement, writing, singing, art, or any form of self-expression.
5. Find people and communities to support you on this journey.
