Akashic Wisdom

“We are all formed by energy fields, which are themselves embedded within larger collective fields and connected to the energy fields of our ancestors and other important people - as well as the great macrocosm. These fields carry within them all the knowledge and great wisdom of the ages. This universal source of knowledge has been called the Akashic Records (Esoteric Buddhism,1883). Even today, I am endlessly curious about the many access points to these universal records. I remain awed at how often the body's innate wisdom can serve as one of these conduits."

-Peter Levine, An Autobiography of Trauma

What is Akashic Wisdom?

In Eastern philosophical practices and energy psychology, we think of the human body as nonlinear and more of a hologram that houses our multidimensional self. It is made up of:

The Physical Body
The Mental Body
The Emotional Body
The Energetic Body/Nervous System

According to Thomas Hübl, the nervous system is the body’s intelligent central core, and it contains a detailed akasha of an individual's history. With somatic healing practices, we learn to zoom in and align with the holographic location of these blocks that give us impressions or emotional tones to support an unwinding of these stuck patterns.

The Akashic consciousness is also referred to as the "Book of Life" or "Universal Library," known as a dimension of consciousness that contains the vibrational record of our cosmic thumbprint.

What Does Akasha Mean?

Akasha is a Sanskrit word that can be translated as “ether" and with the root word, kas, meaning “to be visible,” “sky,“ "atmosphere” or “open space.” It is used in traditional Indian cosmology and is also present in some examples of Western spiritualism.
In Hinduism, it is used to mean the essence of everything that exists in the material world. It is one of the five elements that make up the pancha mahabhuta, with the others being earth, fire, air and water.

At a very practical level, we may consider that musicians, artists, and poets are accessing this realm when they are engaged in the creative process allowing themselves to open to larger fields of consciousness.

How Can We Access the Akashic Wisdom?

We can access this innate wisdom by tapping into a higher state of consciousness where everything is connected and tuning into that universal energy field of knowledge. Below are a few ways that individuals develop a pathway to accessing this wisdom.

  • Meditation: Meditation is a powerful tool for quieting the mind and raising one's vibration to access higher states of consciousness. Many practitioners find that they can receive insights, visions, and guidance by entering a meditative state and setting the intention to access the Akashic Records.
  • Body or Somatic Modalities: The body is a portal into our greater universal wisdom. By traveling in and through the body, we can access this storehouse of information from beyond our third-dimension consciousness.
  • Psychedelics or Plant Medicine: Explorations in consciousness through plant or other forms of psychedelics allow us to drop into deep parasympathetic states to engage with or higher consciousness.
  • Sound or Spiritual Journeying: Ancient practices that include drumming, rhythm, and breathwork give us access to alternative states of consciousness by which we can travel. We can also access it through practices such as Reiki.

How Can the Akashic Wisdom Guide Us?

  • Personal Growth: guidance on current challenges or places of inner growth. Accessing this innate wisdom can serve as a profound source of guidance and insight into various aspects of our lives.
  • Healing and Resolution: uncovering the root causes of emotional or physical challenges.
  • Life Purpose and Direction: clarifying one’s life purpose and path.
  • Decision-Making: guidance and alignment on choices for our highest good and spiritual evolution.
  • Spiritual Connection: deepening spiritual connection while providing a sense of unity that is often experienced in states of higher consciousness.

“We are part of an evolutionary intelligence that seeks to download itself into and through us. It exists in us as electricity animating our full current of humanity…as we explore the subject of the human shadow and its longing for integration, we will look to medicine, mysticism, sages, and scientists…the call so many of us hear is an invitation toward collective healing, the ultimate hero’s journey.”
